How do Artists make a Living?

There was an interesting article by Elizabeth Day in the Observer earlier this year. Her story tells us about the problems artists encounter to make a living.

This is probably not new to any of us and looking back into history is seems to have been the fate of famous artists through the ages. There are only a few who made it to fame during their life time. Today there are some who have touched the imagination of a gallery owner with a unique marketing gag and made the headlines.
