Gone Fishing at Sundown – Miniature Acrylic Painting

painting of a fishing vessel at sundown

Gone Fishing

This fishing vessel is leaving the harbour at sundown. The 5x8cm miniature belongs to my series of seascapes destined for the ArtSurprise vending machines.

It was not so easy to paint the straight lines. I dragged the edge of my palette knife through the paint and then used it to stamp the lines onto the MDF panel. Too much paint on the knife, and the picture would have been ruined. The seagulls posed a similar challenge. I cut a no.3 watercolour brush to a fine tip in order to be able to paint those minute lines.
