Meeting for a Group Exhibition – Interesting Experience

Yesterday we met with the friends from our art society to discuss the preparations for our group exhibition. The giant size painting which I mentioned in a previous post is well under way. We have started producing a 30x40cm canvas each. As there are 12 of us the resulting painting will be 30 x 480 cm (12 x 189 in).

The first canvases were presented yesterday. Every artist had worked from a sketch the leader of our group had prepared for us. We had been asked to paint a September landscape in warm colours. Understandably the interpretation of the scene was different for every artist. As we had only had the black and white sketch to work from the hills and valleys met at the desired points but the colour schemes and style every artist had used differed quite considerably.

It will be interesting to see the reaction of the visitors when the painting will go on display in April.
