A few days ago I went to finalize the details for a solo exhibition at a museum in Greater London. The theme will be about two towns one in England and one in Germany who have started a 70 year-long friendship almost immediately after WWII.
I will be creating paintings depicting the most picturesque places of both towns. In addition to the paintings there will be mementos in the form of photographs and short stories covering those 70 years.
The friendship started with a chance meeting of an Englishman and a POW under a tree to shelter from the rain back in 1946 and developed into an annual youth exchange between the towns and an official twinning much later. Today regular exchanges continue with a club having been formed to make this possible.
