Today I attended the first of my friend´s new online workshops. It was almost like being in the studio with him. Modern webcams offer a remarkable resolution so that the course participants were able to look over his shoulder and listen to his explanations. They would then turn round to their easels and start painting the first step of what they had just seen.
They were then asked to hold their work to the camera one by one so that the tutor was able to advise them on possible improvements. After that is was back to looking over the tutor´s shoulder to learn the next step. So it continued until everyone had completed a very satisfactory painting.
Here is a list of artists who offer online workshops.
Apart from teaching online and on location some artists also offer training DVDs in the form of downloads or on disks.
